Features

Butterfly

The forewings of this relatively large ringlet have a wingspan of about 36 to 46 millimeters. They are colored velvety dark brown, showing a silky luster and color vary according to the geographic occurrence. So almost uniformly dark brown specimens occur. In other butterflies located in the Postdiskalregion a maroon tie with two to four small eyespots. The forewing underside is dark brown with a reddish-brown outer band and often translucent white eye patch. On the hind wings dark brown eye-spots are occasionally seen. The rear wing undersides are divided into three regions, with the basal gray-brown, the Diskalregion in males black brown and yellow-brown in females and the Postdiskalregion are again lighter colored brown. Striking is a clear, tooth-like protruding drawing about in the middle of Diskalregion.

Egg, caterpillar, pupa

The egg is provided off-white, with fine longitudinal ribs. In the adult caterpillar is dominated by a hazy reddish- yellow color, which is interrupted by black back, brownish side of back and brighter side lines. The yellow white-colored doll has a zimtbraunen head and abdomen.

Similar Species
