In the Samtgemeinde Wath from the Lower Saxony district of Celle, three communities have joined together to do their administrative business. The administrative headquarters of the velvet municipality is in the town of Wath.

The Samtgemeinde Wath was created in the course of municipal reform in Lower Saxony with effect from 1 January 1973. Your municipalities Adelheid village, Nienhagen and Wath were allocated.

The Council of Samtgemeinde Wath currently consists of 30 members and the directly elected mayor Samtgemeinde. It is composed of the following parties or voter communities:

Since 1997 there has been a community partnership with Limanowa in Poland.
