Wehrmacht (Band)

Wehrmacht is an American thrash and speed metal band from Portland, Oregon. The band describes their music as " soft core".

Band History

Wehrmacht was founded in 1985. Members were the singer Tito Matos, guitarists John Duffy and Marco Zorich, the bassist and the drummer Brian Shann Mortimer Lehfeldt.

The band, who called their music as soft -core ( cf. Tankard ), published five demo albums with rapid Party Thrash Metal. After a contribution to the compilation Speed Metal Hell, she released her debut album in 1987 Shark Attack. The debut she made in the underground known, but also attracted attention because of their extremely xenophobic and violence-glorifying lyrics, the controversial band name brought its own difficulties. Thus the text is calling from Go Home to violence against migrants:

" Please - I want to work Get out - you miserable jerk Go home - to your flea -bitten life Or I - want to use my knife! "

On the second album Biermächt the band distanced itself with the song Wehrmacht from any Nazi and fascist ideology that subordinated them critics after the ambiguous texts of the debut album. The song, however, was older and came from the berry power demo. The rest of the songs consist of drinking and party lyrics. After the album, the band renamed in power, but broke up shortly thereafter. The members went to parts in Cryptic Slaughter and Spazztic Blurr.

The two albums are very rare in the vinyl version and were not published until the late 1990s on CD.

Since 2009, the band in the original cast is active again. An EP is planned.

2010 appeared the two albums Shark Attack and Biermächt again on the Italian label Foad Record of Cripple Bastards singer Giulio. The albums have been added to demo and live material. The song Go Home is missing. Instead, the song Concrete Meat was added to the album Shark Attack. Also, the boxset Viva Sharko was published with the two albums, demo tracks and a live performance from 1986.

2012 singer Phillip "Tito" Matos was replaced by Eric Helzer.

2013 appeared a live DVD in a limited edition (250 pieces).
