Weiden–Bayreuth railway

The railway willow Bayreuth is a major railway in Bavaria. It combines Weiden on Kirchenlaibach with Bayreuth.

History

The concession for the construction of the line was the Actiengesellschaft the Bavarian Ostbahnen on January 3, 1862. Construction began that same year and was completed on 1 December 1863.

Route description

Course

The route branches off to the pastures station on the Naabtalbahn and first runs along the B 470 at the Weiden districts Rehbühl and Weiden-West, as well as the china factory Seltmann over. At the height of Brandweiher settlement, the line will head first to the southwest and then runs northwest through the forest and Manteler from Schwarzenbach along the Haidenaab after Pressath. In Pressath branched off until 1962 the branch line to Kirchenthumbach, today there is still a connecting track to the Grafenwoehr Training Area. The path continues along the Haidenaab, travels around the roughening Kulm on the east side and take in Kirchenlaibach station on the railway line Nuremberg - Cheb. After Kirchenlaibach station the route to the northwest along the B 22 through the Seybothenreuther Forestry and full-time units between the mountain and the Schlehenberg to Bayreuth runs. The route continues past the Bayreuth districts Grunau, Colmdorf and New home, then impinges on the railway line from Nennslingen. The two lines parallel to cross the river valley of the Red Main river in a nearly 1.5 km long dam; the distance from willow runs along the eastern track. From the south the two lines cross only the B 22 ( Wieland Wagner-Straße ), then the Bayreuth Mühlkanal and finally, just before the entrance to the main station Bayreuth, only the B 2 (Albrecht -Dürer -Straße) and directly thereafter the Red Main.

Expansion of state

The route is not electrified single track over entire length.

On the route operate DMUs of type Stadler Regio-Shuttle RS1 of agilis.
