Weißwandspitze

The white tip of the south-east wall

The white wall tip ( Italian: Parete Bianca ) is a 3017 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Stubai Alps.

The summit of the white wall tip lies on the main Alpine ridge, which also forms the border between the Austrian state of Tyrol and the Italian province of South Tyrol here between the Gschnitz and the Pflerschtal. To the west lies the 3001 -meter high sheep Kampspitze, east of the 2924 m high Hohe tooth.

To the north- west, south and east sharp run distinctive ridges that separate the steep northeast and southeast walls of the broad southwest flank. Below the northeast wall is above the Gamsschrofen a steep snowfield.

Geology

The summit of the peak white wall is formed by Triassic dolomitized carbonates. This form, with their bright coloring a sharp contrast to the underlying, polymetamorph overprinted bedrock ( paragneiss ) and thus to mark the characteristic appearance of the white wall tip, which has also helped her to her name.

Tyrolean mountain trail

The Tyrolean Trail ( Via Alta) leads between Tribulaunhütte and Magdeburg hut through the southwestern flank and along the distinctive line between prehistory and limestone by the south-east wall of the white wall tip. From this way of a riser ( UIAA I) performs the southwestern flank of the summit. The east ridge ( II) and the rockfall risk Nordwand (IV ) committed rarer.
