In the past, he was the game drive in gill nets or open areas, to make it hunted for the greyhounds and falcons. The name derives from the English description from: They spring game into open ( to German ... by his powerful leaps he drives the game from the cover ... ). Today he is a retriever and browsers are and is also used in dog sports. Is closely related to the English Springer Spaniel.

Description

The coat of up to 48 cm large Welsh Springer Spaniel consists of half a thick long, straight, silky hair that is stain resistant. Curls are not allowed. On pearly white ground he wears a deep red drawing. The ears, the chest, the abdomen and the legs are hairy tight. The body is compact, strong and balanced. The Welsh Springer Spaniel is shorter and smaller than the English Springer Spaniel. His back is short and straight, and his muzzle is square. Its medium-sized, almond-shaped eyes are hazel or dark brown. The tail is carried below the ridge height and the relatively small ears have a deep approach, hanging close to the cheeks and run down at the end to a point.

Nature

The Welsh Springer Spaniel is intelligent, gentle, balanced, obedient and docile, sociable, cheerful and friendly. He has a strong hunting instinct, is nimble and sometimes a bit stubborn. He has an excellent sense of smell and strikes also.

Care

The Welsh Springer Spaniel should be like any other Spaniel breeds also trimmed regularly (about every 8 weeks). This refers to the cutting and trimming of hair on and under the paws, on and under the ears, the tail and neck.

Since the Welsh Springer Spaniel originally a hunting dog was or still is, he needs plenty of exercise to stay fit. If you give him this - he retrieves and likes to swim - he keeps quiet in the apartment.
