Welty McCullogh

Welty McCullogh ( born October 10, 1847 in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; † August 31, 1889 ) was an American politician. Between 1887 and 1889 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Welty McCullogh attended the public schools of his home and then the Washington & Jefferson College in Washington ( Pennsylvania). During the Civil War he served as Second Clerk in the Provost Marshal of the 21st Military District of Pennsylvania operates. Then he studied until 1870 at the Princeton College. After a subsequent law degree in 1872 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started in Greensburg to work in this profession. He was also legally working for the railway company Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.

Politically, McCullough was a member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1886, he became the 21st electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrats Charles Edmund Boyle on March 4, 1887. Since he was not nominated by his party for re-election in 1888, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1889. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives McCullough practiced as a lawyer again. He died on 31 August 1889 in his hometown of Greensburg.
