Wenceslaus II, Duke of Cieszyn

Wenceslas II ( Czech Václav II Těšínský, Polish Waclaw II Cieszyński, * 1488-1496; † November 17, 1524 ) was Duke of Teschen 1518-1524 mitregierender. He came from the Teschen branch of the Silesian Piast dynasty.

Life

His parents were Casimir II and Johanna, daughter of the Duke Viktorin from his marriage to Margaret, who was a daughter of the Bohemian nobles Hynek Ptáček of Pirkstein.

Although Wenceslas was the second-born son, he was intended by his parents for the ducal succession, as the first-born Friedrich was intended for a clerical career.

1518 Wenzel was appointed co-regent of his father. In the same year he married Anna of Brandenburg- Ansbach from the line of the Franconian Hohenzollern Principality of Ansbach. The couple had

  • A son, whose first name is not known ( 1519/20- ~ 1525)
  • Ludmilla († 1539) and
  • Wenceslas III. Adam († 1579).

Wenceslaus II died in 1424, four years before his father Casimir II About the posthumously born son Wenceslas III. Adam took his mother Anna of Brandenburg- Ansbach, together with the Moravian Captain John of Pernštejna through adolescence 1545 guardianship.
