Wenceslaus II, Duke of Opava

Wenceslaus II of Opava (also Wenzel von Leobschutz Czech Václav II Opavský; * to 1397, † 1445-1447 ) was from 1433 Duke of Opava and down about 1435 Duke of Leobschutz and Mr. Fulnek on. He came from the Opava branch of the Bohemian Přemyslids.

Life

His parents were Duke Přemysl / Primislaus I of Opava and Anna Lutz († 1405). Around 1420, married Wenceslas II with Elizabeth of Krawarn.

After the death of his father in 1433 Wenceslas II took over the guardianship of his younger stepbrothers Wilhelm, Ernst and Přemysl / Primislaus II, while the also already full year second-born brother Nicholas IV dubbed as Lord on Zuckmantel. Although her father in his will stipulated that his areas should not be separated in order to prevent further fragmentation, they shared about 1435 the inherited property. Wenceslas II received the Duchy Leobschutz and the Palais Prague Faustův dum, while Wilhelm and Ernst got parts of Opava and Přemysl / Primislaus II, who belonged to the clergy, probably missed out. During the Hussite Wars Wenceslas II could end in February 1428 to preserve the Leobschützer country with a contract before the complete downfall.
