Wenchen Qin

Wenchen Qin ( born October 29, 1966 in Erdos ) is a Chinese composer.

Life

Wenchen Qin was born in Inner Mongolia. At age nine, he was already taught in Chinese folk music. In 1987, he began his musical studies at the Conservatory of Shanghai in the Kompostitionsklassen of Shuya Xu and Zhu Jianer. After graduating in 1992 he taught at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. In 1998 he received a scholarship from the DAAD and came to Germany at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, where he received his degree with honors in 2001. Since his return to Beijing (2001 ), he taught again at the Central Conservatory and composed music for many international institutions. Qin has won several awards at composition competitions in Germany, the USA, Japan and Taiwan.
