Wendover is a city in the U.S. state of Utah with 1,537 inhabitants ( 2000 census ), located in the western United States at the border between the states of Nevada and Utah. Located in Nevada part of the town is the city of West Wendover. In flight direction East military airfield " Salt Lake City Municipal 2 " and also the international Salt Lake City airport; From Wendover Airport is 93 nm (172 km nautical miles).

The State of Nevada distributes its result obtained from the gaming operations tax revenue also to the communities. Some years ago therefore concurred with the residents of Wendover on both sides of the state border for connection to Nevada: Both the inhabitants of the western half of the city (West Wendover, Nevada), and the poorer eastern half (Utah ) voted with that. The application has not yet been submitted to the U.S. Congress.

In Wendover, the Bonneville Speedway Museum is where the numerous speed records are documented with motor vehicles that have been achieved in the salt flats of the Great Salt Lake Desert on the 35 km long runway.

During the Second World War was here a training base for pilots of the B -29, the Wendover Army Air Base. There, among other things, the crew of the Enola Gay was formed. The aircraft was until June 1945 stationed in Wendover. Even Hollywood took notice of the airfield: several scenes in the movie Con Air were filmed under the name Lerner Airfield on the former USAF site.
