Werner Pidde

Pidde Werner ( born July 28, 1953 in Walter Hausen ) is a German politician ( SPD) and Thuringian Landtag. Since December 2013 he has been chairman of the SPD faction in the Thuringian state parliament.

Life and career

Werner Pidde is the son of a seamstress and a locksmith. He is married and has three children. After attending the Polytechnic High School in Walter Hausen ( 1959-67 ), he joined in 1971 the Advanced High School ( EOS ) with the Abitur. Then he made the military service began in 1973 and a Masters degree as a teacher of chemistry and mathematics at the University of Education Erfurt / Mulhouse. From 1977 to 1980 he received his doctorate with the work of selected studies on the acceptor behavior of cobalt (II ) - and nickel ( II ) halides and pseudohalides Dr. rer. nat. ( Natural sciences). Subsequently, Werner Pidde worked as a teacher at the EOS Schnepfenthal (now Salzmannschule ) and in 1981 became a lecturer at the School of Finance in Gotha - the only one of its kind in the GDR. From 1990 to 1994 he was Deputy Mayor of the city Walterhausen and had held the position of financial, social and school department heads.

Policy

In early 1990, Werner joined Pidde the Social Democratic Party in the GDR (SDP ) at. In 1994 he became a member of the Thuringian Landtag and financial spokesman of the SPD. In the third term (1999 to 2004) he was Parliamentary Secretary of the SPD parliamentary group. In 2004 he was financial and media spokesman of the group.

After the appointment of Uwe Hohn the Thuringian Minister of Economy Pidde was elected on 18 December 2013, his successor as chairman of the SPD parliamentary group.

Political and social functions

Besides his work in the Thuringian state parliament Werner Pidde is a deputy in Gotha district council and vice chairman of the local SPD faction. He also serves on the State Executive Committee of the SPD Thuringia and is in Walterhausen local branch chairman of his party. He also has a seat on the board of the savings bank Gotha.
