WERSI

WERSI was from 1969 to 2010, a German manufacturer of electronic organs, most of which were sold as a kit.

The founders of the company were the brothers Wilhelm Erich and Reinhard Franz from the Rhein- Hunsrück-Kreis. The name WERSI is composed of the initial letters of their birthplace Werlau and those of the county town simmering.

The large number of electronic and mechanical components required at the time extensive manual work, so ready WERSI organs for most musicians were prohibitive. Through the Self, whose idea was adapted from the then rival company Dr. Böhm, larger E- organs of WERSI were first interesting for many bands and amateur musicians. In addition, the construction of a WERSI organ offered so many hobbyists the opportunity to acquire additional income.

Since the technique increasingly complex and automated PCB assembly was required by miniaturization of electronic components, there was later to buy only ready to use or ready-to- play organs.

The organs contained 12 individually tuned oscillators. Unlike generated from counting circuits tones their sound was therefore not synthetic. Later models were often supplemented by an integrated PC with CD burner and touch screen.

The organs most recently produced are models of the OAS series ( OpenArt system ) with the terms " Apollo", Abacus, " Icarus ", " Xenios ", " Verona ", " Scala ", " Louvre ", " Gigapiano " and " Expander". Sound is produced at these different technologies, such as sampling, wavetable, Drawbars ( OX7 ), Analog, FM, VST host for up to four instruments, video and MP3, fully digital, whereby the respective strengths of the sound generation come simultaneously into play. Built continue to be a multi-channel digital mixer, an equalizer, an effect devices and timbre of other manufacturers.

After the bankruptcy of the company, the company in 2010 acquired Music Store in Cologne trademark.

The former site of the operation was located at the glans garden 32-36 in the industrial area in Halsbach. Even today you can still see the large oblong hall-like building. At times, also other individual storage rooms were rented in the local area in which the components were stored.

Since the takeover in 2010 of Musicstore the organs of the OAS series from WERSI Studio High Rhine are manufactured.
