Wes Carr

Wesley Carr ( born 14 September 1982 in Adelaide ) is an Australian pop singer. He won the 2008 talent show contest Australian Idol.

Biography

Carr grew up in Gawler in the north of the southern Australian city of Adelaide. At 15, he went with his father to the east coast to Bondi ( Sydney ). There he performed in pubs at a young age. In addition to the guitar, he mastered the piano, harmonica and drums.

The early 2000s, he met Ben Gillies, the drummer of the band Silverchair, know and founded with him in 2003 as a side project, the band Tambalane. Along with Greg Royal and Gerard Masters, they took an album and went on tour, but when Gillies then again increasingly devoted Silverchair to Tambalane broke again after two years on.

Carr was then another solo adventure and was approached by the producer and actor CJ Vanston and brought to Los Angeles. In the coming years, the Australian published two solo albums.

2008 Wes Carr applied for the sixth season of the talent show Australian Idol ( the Australian version of Germany sucht den Superstar ). Also, due to his experience and professional background, he quickly became a favorite of the season and was finally able to confident after twelve rounds the end of November to win the title, which was connected to a recording contract and a cash prize of 200,000 Australian dollars. Following his debut single, You, with which he was able to land in the Christmas week as the fifth of six Idol winners a number 1 hit in Australia appeared. However, the second single Feels Like Woah fell far behind. For his album The Way the World Looks in 2009 reached # 2 on the Australian charts in April.
