West Palatinate Way

The Western Palatinate Trail ( actually: Big Westpfalz trail ) was a trail that led across the Western Palatinate and is now no longer entertained. The package tour concept of 1980 in the western Palatinate, launched by the sponsoring organization for the promotion of tourism trail involved a collaboration between the counties of West Palatinate, the Palatinate Forest Association and restaurateurs. In the years 2006 and 2007 the number of overnight stays fell such that the sponsoring organization no longer maintains book offers since 2009 and the Care of the ways markers is performed through the Palatinate Forest Club only in limited areas. The resolution of the association is considered.

Course

The Westpfalz trail began in Kaiserslautern district Hohenecken and led about glues (Pfalz ), Hauenstein, Rumbach, Ludwig angle Eppenbrunn and back via Landstuhl, Wolfenstein, Rockhausen, Kirchheimbolanden, Eisenberg, high Speyer to Hohenecken.

Overall, it was 409 km long, making it the longest waymarked footpaths system of Germany. The trail had between Kaiserslautern and Landstuhl a cross bar, so he was to be separated into a northern and a southern half.

The Great Western Palatinate Trail was one of a total of 12 Westpfalz trails that were created eV of the Association for the promotion of tourism in the Western Palatinate and cared for.

The marking of the path was up to the Palatinate Forest Club. The directional marking of the main path was a stylized white or black W, byways were given different colored markings.
