Westland Dragonfly

History

When in 1947 a collaboration between the two helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky has been agreed in the U.S. and Westland in the UK, Westland began first with the license of the already very successful in the U.S. Sikorsky S- 51st The British version was called Dragonfly. Of this type there were a total of 7 different versions, with the internally designated by the marking HR3 version represented the most common variant. In addition to its main function as a reconnaissance and rescue helicopters in the British Army, a few machines have also been used for civilian purposes as a business helicopter and police and emergency services. A further development of the Dragonfly was the Westland Widgeon.
