Westliche Karwendelspitze

The Western Karwendelspitze over the Karwendel pit

The Western Karwendelspitze is a 2385 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Karwendel on the border between Bavaria and Tyrol. The summit is part of the Northern Karwendel chain and is located between the Karwendel valley and the Isar valley in the west above Mittenwald, from where it can be reached by a cable car. From the mountain station of the Karwendel Bahn introduces partially insured wire rope climbing in about 20 minutes to the summit. Ascents without cableway of Mittenwald usually lead by the Dammkar or something more sophisticated and direct about the Karwendel trail that leads past the Mittenwald hut.

In the Einschartung between the Western and the Northern Karwendelspitze Linderspitze ( 2372 m above sea level. A. ) starts next to the Noe - way to Brunnsteinhütte also the famous Mittenwald ferrata. The northern end of the sidewalk - not as often assumed, the actual entry - is on the peaks of the West Karwendelspitze ( one way).

Similarly important as the Mittenwald climbing route in summer, in winter the Dammkar as Germany's longest ski tour and freeride downhill.

On 29 April 1931 it was the middle of forests and KRINNER Matthias Hermann Lanzl results in the direct descent of the Western Karwendelspitze over the tub down to Mittenwald, which was retaken on 8 March 1969, the Mountaineer Jost Gudelius and Stefan Schoene.
