The Westminster Theological Seminary is a Presbyterian and Reformed Christian University in Glenside, Pennsylvania, with a branch in London. All trustees and faculty members must register their agreement with the theological point of view, as in the confession of Westminster, the large and the small Westminster Catechism - is set out - the three main doctrinal documents of many Presbyterian denominations.

History

The college was founded in 1929, primarily under the leadership and through the funding of John Gresham Machen. Although independent of the " Orthodox Presbyterian Church" ( co-founded by Making 1936) she entertained for a long time a close relationship with her. The first president of the college was Edmund Clowney, who exercised his office from 1966 to 1984. His successor was George Fuller and Samuel T. Logan. In 1982, the California branch of Westminster became independent under the name " Westminster Seminary California"; Followed in 2009, in Dallas (Texas ), the establishment of the independent " Redeemer Theological Seminary ."

The current president Peter Lillback is also active as Professor of Historical Theology ( Church and History of Economic Thought ).

Accreditation

Westminster has been accredited by the "Society of theological colleges in the U.S. and Canada " ( Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada) 1986. The faculty has already received 1954 accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. In June 2011, the " Commission of the middle U.S. states for higher education" approved method "to accept the inspection report and observe the inspection by the representative of the Commission. Academic activities
