Westquarter

West Quarter is a village in the Scottish unitary authority Falkirk. It is located about three kilometers from the city centers of Falkirk and Grangemouth. West Quarter is connected via the A803 to the road network.

History

The settlement Westquarter arose in connection with the manor West Quarter House, which was one of a long time to the possessions of the Living Stones. In 1884 the building was torn down and replaced by a castle, which in turn was torn down in 1934. Only the dovecote of West Quarter House has been preserved and is now listed as a monument of the highest category A. Only in 1930, on the development of Westquarter ride, when the village was promoted in connection with the mining activities in the area as a planned community. In this context, a primary school was established. In 2001, there were 1105 people in West Quarter.
