Weynay Ghebresilasie

Weynay Ghebresilasie ( born May 24, 1994) is an Eritrean athlete who specializes in the steeplechase.

Ghebresilasie occupied at the World Cross Country Championships 2011 in Punta Umbria the 30th place in the junior race. At the Track Junior World Championships 2012 in Barcelona, ​​he was in the steeplechase sixth. Shortly thereafter, he started in the same discipline at the Olympic Games in London, but resigned in tenth of its forward travel from an early stage. Ghebresilasie was in London flag carrier of the Eritrean team. After the Olympics, he applied for political asylum in Britain. He is now based in Sunderland and starts for Sunderland Harriers.
