Whale was a Swedish rock band.

Band History

The band was initially founded in 1987 under the name Southern Whale Cult by guitarist Henrik Schyffert and bassist Gordon Cyrus. Lead singer Cia Berg joined later. In 1993, the band international breakthrough with the single Hobo Humpin ' Slobo Babe, the rotated by Mark Pellington music video had a long time among the top hits of the 1990s most popular show on Alternative Nation MTV Networks Europe. The single placed in the top ten in Denmark and Norway and the charts in the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom and came out to position 24 of the U.S. Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.

Only in 1998 appeared in All Disco Dance Must End in Broken Bones another album, now with the new band members Jorgen Wall on drums, guitarist Jon Jefferson Klingberg and bassist Heikki Kiviaho. The album was lavishly produced in Chicago and London, among others, Chris Potter and Brad Wood, and could as the previous position in the UK album charts. Subsequently, the band embarked on a promotional tour of the U.S. as the opening act of Tricky.

In the late 1990s, the band broke up. Henrik Schyffert has since been working as a comedian, while Cia Berg works as a presenter for Swedish television. Gordon Cyrus has worked as a music producer.
