When Night Is Falling

When Night (1995 ) is a Canadian film director Patricia Rozema of about the love of a Christian teacher ( Pascale Bussières ) to a circus performer ( Rachael Crawford ).

Action

Camille Baker and her partner Martin are a teacher at a Christian college in a Canadian small town. You are asked to work together as deans, but for that they would marry. While Martin is very fond of this idea, Camille has doubts. Shaken by the death of her dog, she meets in a laundry on a young woman named Petra, who tries hard to hide the fact that she is attracted to Camille. Your dresses will be reversed, and so they see again soon.

A cautious friendship germinates, with Camille but recoils at the blatant overtures of the young circus performer. She tries to strengthen its relationship with Martin, but when he leaves for a few days, she goes back to Petra. Petras zest for life and adventure breaks with Camille, as Petra takes her kite flying. After a precipitous fall, which is triggered by the fact that Camille in the air is passed out, the two women go to Camille's apartment. There Petra launches a tender seduction attempt, when suddenly the Reverend is coming and wants to talk to Camille. Martin versa premature now back from his trip and follows in the footsteps of his friend to the circus, where he sees the two women together. Shocked, he turns away and provides Camille an ultimatum. This is insecure and gets drunk. Then she takes her dead dog, which she had hidden in the freezer, and goes out into the cold night to bury him.

Some time later find two familiar with Petra Drachenflieger Camille drunk and half frozen in the snow. You call an ambulance and Petra to help. These cuddles up to Camille, while they wait for help, she prays and promises to love her lover, and to honor and assist her in both good and bad days. You go on together, and close again at the circus.

Tory leaves finally Timothy and remains in the city, where it meets the freshly abandoned Martin soon. The two turn to each other, while Camille's dog digs in the snow-covered landscape near the town from the ground and runs away into the distance.
