Don McKellar

Don McKellar ( born August 17, 1963 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a Canadian actor, screenwriter and director.

Life

McKellar attended Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute and later studied English at the University of Toronto. He began his career in the theater, but soon turned to the Canadian film.

His first role in a feature film was in 1989 in McKellar, Bruce McDonald's film Roadkill, for which he also wrote the screenplay. McKellar still later worked on several projects with Bruce McDonald together (Highway 61, 1991, Twitch City, 1998/2000 ).

Don McKellar's better-known projects in Europe are the Oscar-nominated film The Red Violin (1998), for which he also wrote the screenplay, and the David Cronenberg film eXistenZ (1999).

Don McKellar's directorial debut is the not so well-known in Europe film Last Night (1998 ), which accompanied a handful of people in their last hours on earth that will stop at midnight due to a meteor impact to exist.

He was partnered with Tracy Wright until her death.
