Whipping Boy (Irish band)

Whipping Boy ( English for " whipping boy " ) is an Irish alternative rock band that was founded in 1988 in Dublin.

The band initially founded under the name " Lolita and the Whipping Boy " as a cover band for The Velvet Underground and The Fall songs. When the female guitarist left the band, it was called only " Whipping Boy ". After two EPs were released on an independent label, the band got a record deal with "Liquid Records" and released her debut album " Submarine ". The album was not a commercial success, but the band had by her live concerts a certain reputation, as the singer on the stage had a tendency to hurt himself with broken glass. In 1994 the album " Heartworm ", were released from the three singles on Columbia Records. In 1998, the band broke up after Columbia broke up the contract with them. The incomplete at this time third album " Whipping Boy " was published in 2000, self-published. In 2005 there was a reunion with some concerts in Ireland.
