History

Whiskeytown was founded in 1994 in Raleigh, North Carolina of the then 20 -year-old Ryan Adams. Caitlin Cary as a violinist and second lead singer, Phil wall shear on guitar, Steve Groth man on bass and Eric Gilmore on drums were other founding members.

1995 on the independent label Mood Food Angels first EP released, followed in 1996, the debut album Faithless Street, which received good reviews in the trade press, including the No Depression magazine. An acclaimed performance at the South by Southwest festival gave the band a contract with the major label Geffen.

1997 Mood Food or Rural Free Delivery was out, a collection of early recordings. That same year, Stranger 's Almanac, which has already been recorded with new bassist Jeff Rice and drummer Steven Terry appeared at Geffen. Soon after the release Phil Wandscher left the band.

After the tour for Stranger 's Almanac, in which Adam must have misbehaved apparently more than once ( Quote: Well, we were called Whiskeytown ), he and Cary found again as the only remaining band members. Mike Daly, who dominated except keyboards and guitar and various other instruments, joined the band and was co- author of many pieces of the next album Pneumonia, which was completed with a rotating cast of 1999. It was released due to various distortions of the record industry in 2001 on Lost Highway, after both Ryan Adams and Caitlin Cary 's first solo works brought out.
