White Island (Nunavut)

White Iceland (English for " White Island " ) is an uninhabited island in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, in the Kivalliq Region of the Canadian territory of Nunavut.

The island is located in the extreme southwest of the Foxe Basin off the northern tip of Iceland Southampton. It has a land area of 789 km ².

White Iceland is separated from Southampton Iceland through the narrow (less than 2 km wide ) Comer Strait to the west and by the Falcon Strait in the south. White Iceland has several headlands, including Cape Middleton, Frigid Cape and Cape Deas.

Whale Sound and Tom Harbour lie on the east coast of the island. The Frozen Strait runs north of the island. White Iceland is surrounded by several small islands. They include Passage Iceland, Iceland Whale, Seekoo Iceland, Iceland Nas and many unnamed islands. The highest peak of White Iceland reaches a height of 381 m. The island is criss-crossed by lakes. The largest reach a length of 17 km.
