White Main

White Main Source

The White Main, also called White Main ( not to be confused with the Main Weis ), is the relatively water-rich and shorter of the two sources of the River Main. It rises in the Fichtelgebirge and flows in Steinhausen, on the western outskirts of Kulmbach, with its left, a southern source river Roter Main along the Main. The length information for the White Main vary between 41 km and 52.8 km.

The catchment area of the White River Main is on light granite rock, which makes the river appear clear and rather bright.

Geography

Source

→ Main article: White Main Source

The White Main source is located 887 m above sea level. NN on the eastern slope of the ox head. Margrave Frederick laid down her and let her in 1717 put into granite blocks. He had cut the Hohenzollern coat of arms in the granite. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited the source in 1785, but kept the Seehausbrunnen ( (50 ° 1 ' 57 "N, 11 ° 52' 18" O50.032441811.8716529 ) source of the slightly longer Pasche Bach ) southeast of the Schneeberg for the main source, for he wrote: "... the source of the River Main, which rises close here at home and here makes up the creek to Zinnwäsche, ...".

Since the White Main is rich in water than the longer Red Main, its source than the total Mains applies. The hydrological main branch of the White Main system, however, starts at one of the sources of the creek Ölschnitz, the significantly watered and 4 kilometers longer is at the mouth as the White Main.

It flows through the village of Lanz and Himmelcron, where he takes from right to dispute Mühlbach and Schlömen the Laubbach on. Now he turns his course to the west until it reaches Trebgast where it amplifies the coming from the south, the same stream.
