History

The first-time documentary mention Trebgasts dates from the period 1028-1040. , The Margrave of Brandenburg -Bayreuth held the sovereignty since the 14th century. The Margraviate belonged from 1500 to the Frankish Empire circle. As part of the Prussian Principality of Bayreuth since 1792 Trebgast fell in the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 to France and came to Bavaria in 1810.

On 1 January 1972 a part of the dissolved municipality Lindau was incorporated with the town of Lindau.

Culture and sights

The parish church of St. John is a landmark of the place from afar. Together with charnel house, rectory, parish hall and the associated walls to form an architectural ensemble. The interior is equipped with stucco work of the Italian artist Francesco Andreioli.

Enjoys great popularity the recreation center Trebgast with the Trebgaster lake. The lake is 680 meters long, 220 meters wide and approximately 68,000 square feet in size. The trail around the lake has a length of 1500 meters. The island is 7200 square meters. The total area of ​​the recreation center includes 18,951 acres and was acquired by 24 owners. The construction costs amounted to 2.8 million marks. The dedication and opening took place on 12 June 1975.

Trebgast is also known by the natural stage. The Association Nature Trebgast eV emerged from the former Traffic and Beautification Association Trebgast, the May 30, 1892, the pastor Trebgaster Benker.

Every year on Christmas Eve pulls the straw by Berta Trebgast. The group consists of ten clad men, especially the Strohbär (straw Berta ), the Christkindla and Schlotfeger.
