White Willow

White Willow is a Norwegian progressive rock band that was founded in 1992.

Band History

After two years of recordings released in 1995, the debut album of the band, which then consisted of Sara Trondal, Eldrid Johansen Jan Tariq Rahman, Audun Kjus, Tirill poppy, Alexander Engebretsen and an unnamed drummer alongside founder Holm- Lupo. The melancholy retro prog Ignis Fatuus was heavily influenced by the folk. For the second album followed in 1998, the occupation has been changed. Only Holm- Lupo and Rahman remained in the band, which was completed by Sylvia Erichsen, Frode Lia and Mattias Olsson ( Änglagård ). Ex Tenebris was arranged symphonic than the debut. After several festival appearances, the cast changed again.

Holm- Lupo and Erichsen were now the remaining members. At Sacrament, which was released in 2000, Brynjar Dambo, Aage Moltke Schou, John Sæbøe and Ketil Einarsen Vestrum were also involved. Now On the album the previous folk influences were strong withdrawn. In 2001, White Willow were encountered while NEARfest. John Sæbøe, Martha Berger Walthinsen and Lars Fredrik Frøislie ( wobbler) came now for Dambo and Einarsen the band. The album Storm Season published in 2004, renounced folk elements and was harder and darker than the previous releases. Sæbøe Erichsen and then left the band, Einarsen returned and Trude Eidtang was new singer. With the ensuing album Signal to Noise tried to integrate White Willow fashionable elements into their style. Subsequently, the band made a long pause. Holm- Lupo, Frøislie and Erichsen were formed White Willow in 2010 with the former members Erichsen and Olsson new. Ellen Andrea Wang now took over the bass. With the album Terminal Twilight, which appeared in 2011, the band returned in part to their former melancholy folk retro prog.
