Whitney Eugene Thayer

Whitney Eugene Thayer ( born December 11, 1838 in Mendon, Massachusetts, † June 27, 1889 in Burlington, Vermont) was an American organist and composer.

Thayer gave his first organ concert at the opening of the Music Hall in Boston in 1863. He studied in Berlin organ set and counterpoint with Carl August Haupt and then worked first in Boston and later in New York City as an organist. He toured as Orgevirtuose and acted as organ teacher and writer on music.

In addition to a festive cantata and a trade show, he composed many organ works, songs and vocal quartets.
