Wierzchocino

Wierzchocino ( German Virchenzin ) is a village in the powiat Słupski the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Geographical location

Wierzchocino located in Pomerania, about five kilometers southeast of Smołdzino ( Schmolsin ), 24 kilometers northeast of Slupsk ( Stolp ) and 94 kilometers west of the regional capital Gdańsk.

History

Wierzchocino is a former estate village. Around 1784, there was a Virchenzin Vorwerk, eight pawns with the mayor, three Kossäten and 18 Büdner, among which is the sub- forester and the blacksmith were. 1925 were on the municipal land 98 houses. In 1939 there were in Virchenzin 131 households with a total of 556 residents.

Before the end of World War II Virchenzin was the seat of the administrative district Virchenzin in the district of Stolp, administrative region of Pomerania, Pomerania. To Virchenzin belonged before 1945 apart from the village itself three more Places:

  • Let
  • Vogelsang

The community area measured 1,190 hectares.

Towards the end of the Second World War, the region on March 9, 1945, occupied by the Red Army. Then Virchenzin was placed under Polish administration. The houses and farms acquired under Polish expropriation measures of immigrant Poland. The inhabitants were expelled.

In 2008 Wierzchocino had 221 inhabitants.

School

By 1830, the villages Zietzen, Virchenzin and Vietkow had a common school, between these towns on the knight free ' Vorwerk Rambow was. Each of the three villages was then a school.
