Wil van Beveren

Wilhelmus " Wil " van Beveren ( born December 28, 1911 in Haarlem; † 5 October 2003 in Emmen ) was a Dutch athlete and sports journalist.

Van Beveren was in the 1930s one of the strongest sprinters in the Netherlands. The greatest success of his career, he celebrated at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, where he finished sixth in the finals of the 200-meter run.

After ending his playing career, he became a sports journalist. First, he wrote for Sports & Sportwereld and from 1958 for the Emmer Courant.

Two of his sons became well-known professional football player. The younger, Jan van Beveren, managed the leap into the Dutch national football team.
