Wildbacher

Blue Wildbacher is an ancient red grape variety, which was probably already used by the Celts. For the first time it is demonstrated in the 16th century. It is cultivated mainly in Austria, especially in the wine-growing area in Western Styria. There the Schilcher rosé is made from it. Despite its bright red color of the Schilcher counts because of the nature of the fermentation of the red wines. In Germany there is a project of the Research Institute Geisenheim to re-exporter planting in Heppenheim in the wine region Hessian mountain road. There are several, probably four different types of grapes that have greater genetic differences, their detailed investigation is still ongoing.

Investigations by Ferdinand Regner from the Federal College and Federal Office for Viticulture and Pomology at Klosterneuburg create a descent from Heunisch close.
