Wilhelm Diegelmann

Wilhelm Diegelmann ( born September 28, 1861 in Ellers, today Neuhof ( near Fulda ); † March 1, 1934 in Berlin) was a German actor.

Life

He began his stage career in 1878 in the chorus of the Frankfurt Opera. In 1881 he made ​​his acting debut at the Stadttheater in Frankfurt. There he embodied, among other things, the title characters in Wallenstein, Nathan the Wise, William Tell and King Lear.

In 1900 he moved to Berlin, where he performed particularly at the Deutsches Theater. Later he was seen also at the Berlin Theatre, on the Grand Theatre and the German Art Theatre.

In 1913 he came by Max Reinhardt film. Diegelmann was here for busy supporting actor, often in father figures, but increasingly also in rather comical batch roles. He portrayed in the classic The Blue Angel, a captain who anbändelt after a voyage not knowing with singer Lola Lola ( Marlene Dietrich ) and prompt the jealousy of her new husband ( Emil Jannings ) is feeling. In his last film he starred in the adaptation of Storm The Ghost Rider as an old reeve. Diegelmann continued to stand on the Berlin stage, most recently in Hans Kysers Rembrandt in court shortly before his death.
