Wilhelm Gegenfurtner

Wilhelm Gegenfurtner (* 1946 in Teisnach, Bavarian Forest ) is a Catholic priest, dean of Regensburg and vicar general of the diocese of Regensburg many years.

Life

After studying philosophy and Catholic theology, he was ordained in 1974 at the Regensburg Cathedral priest and has since worked as a Roman Catholic priest. In 1976 he received his doctorate with a thesis in the field of diocesan history. His pastoral areas of application were as chaplain in the town of Geisenheim field, as chaplain at the University of Regensburg, at a later date, he was Head of Unit Catholic Adult Education and New Media at the Diocese of Regensburg.

In August 2005, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany by German President Horst Köhler. Gegenfurtner was 1991-2005 vicar general of the diocese of Regensburg. For some time Gegenfurtner is the Foundation Board of Regensburg Katharinenspital Foundation, a nonprofit community foundation. In November 2005 Gegenfurtner took over his new position as Superior at the Motherhouse of the Sisters Mallersdorf district of Straubing -Bogen. As provost, he is still involved in the Diocese line. On 3 July 2012, the cathedral chapter elected him diocesan administrator. With the inauguration of Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer its activities ended as diocesan Administrator on 26 January 2013.
