Wilhelm Holec

Wilhelm Holec (* July 7, 1914, has been missing since August 23, 1944 in Broasca, Romania ) was an Austrian football player who won two league titles with SK Rapid Vienna and in 1935 completed a game in the national team.

Club career

The striker came with 16 years for SK Danube field, where he soon played in the first team, was then XXI briefly at Victoria, before moving into the reserve team coached by Joseph Blum of the First Vienna FC 1932. The following year he made ​​his debut in the top division, but was initially only rarely. Only after the sale of Gustav Tögel to Holec has asserted a regular player from the spring of 1935. Already at the beginning of this year, the newspapers reported about the player when he was washed into the sea as part of a North African tour of Vienna on a free day together with his team-mates Ladislaus Necina fishing. While Necina drowned, Holec could be saved. In the 1935/36 season of Holec mostly used as a left connector or left winger had 13 goals the most successful shooter of his club and contributed significantly to the runner-up title of Vienna. During the winter break the following season Holec received an offer of SK Rapid Vienna and moved to Hütteldorf. The following year he came with the Green-Whites into the final of the Tschammerpokal where the FSV Frankfurt was defeated 3-1. 1940/41, achieved with Rapid another league title, but Holec was now only a reserve player.
