Wilhelm Michler

Wilhelm Michler (* December 27 1846 in Schmerbach, today Creglingen, † November 27, 1889 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a German chemist.

Michler was a student of Victor Meyer, in which he received his doctorate in Zurich in 1874. Then he taught from 1875 to 1882 as a lecturer at the ETH Zurich. In 1882 he moved to Brazil, where he worked mainly on natural products of tropical origin and taught chemical engineering at the Polytechnic School in Rio de Janeiro.

Named after him is the Michler used as a base chemical for dyes ketone.
