William D. Thomas

William David Thomas ( born March 22, 1880 in Granville, Washington County, New York, † May 17 1936 in Washington DC ) was an American politician. Between 1934 and 1936 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Thomas attended the common schools. In 1904 he graduated from the Albany College of Pharmacy. A year later he moved to Hoosick Falls, Rensselaer County, where he worked as a pharmacist. Later, he also worked as a druggist. He also went into the banking industry and in politics. He became a member of the Republican Party. Between 1917 and 1925 he was employed as Town Clerk in managing his hometown. Then he sat in the years 1925 and 1926 as a deputy in the New York State Assembly. From 1927 to 1933 he served as treasurer in Rensselaer County. He was 1927-1934 and Republican District Chairman.

After the death of Mr James S. Thomas Parker was elected to the due election for the 29th seat from New York as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where he took up his new mandate on 30 January 1934. After his re-election he remained until his death on 17 May 1936 at the Congress. During this time other New Deal legislation of the Roosevelt administration there were adopted, where Thomas's party faced a rather negative.
