William Dean Singleton

William Dean Singleton ( born August 1, 1951 in Graham, Texas) is the founder, managing director and deputy chairman of MediaNews Group, the fourth largest newspaper publisher in the United States. Singleton is also chairman of the Newspaper Association of America ( NAA), the Association of Newspaper Publishers in the United States.

Life

Even as a 15 -year-old Singleton began to work as a journalist for a regional newspaper. After leaving college he founded his own weekly newspaper. He began working for the Texas financial investor Joe Albritton. At 27, he became president of the newspaper division, Albritton Communications. 1977 Singleton was charged with the merger of several newspaper groups for Albritton Communications. In the same year he met Richard B. Scudder, with whom he worked from 1983. Through our cooperation in 1985 the Media News Group developed.
