William Henry Witte

William Henry Witte ( born October 4, 1817 in Columbia, Morris County, New Jersey, † November 24, 1876 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. From 1853 to 1855 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Even in his youth was William Witte Springtown in Pennsylvania, where he attended the public schools. Since 1840 he lived in Philadelphia, where he worked in the commercial as well as in the real estate industry. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1852 Witte was in the fourth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John Robbins on March 4, 1853. Until March 3, 1855, he was able to complete a term in Congress. This was marked by the events leading up to the Civil War.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, William Witte operated again in the real estate industry. He also became involved in the newspaper business. He died on November 24, 1876 in Philadelphia.
