Morris County (New Jersey)
Morris County is a county ( district ) in the U.S. state of New Jersey. In the 2000 census, the county had 470 212 inhabitants and a population density of 387 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Morristown.
Geography
The county has an area of 1,247 square kilometers, of which 32 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County, Union County, Somerset County, Hunterdon County and Warren County.

According to the census of 2000, there were 470 212 people in the county. There were 169 711 households and 124 907 families. The population density was 387 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 87.20 % White, 2.80 % African American, 0.12 % Native American, 6.26 % Asian, 0.04 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 2.01 % from other races groups; 1.56% were descended from two or more races. 7.79 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 169 711 households out of which 35.40 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 62.80 % were married couples living together, 7.90% had a female householder with no husband. 26.40 % were non-families. 21.50% of all households and 7.30 % had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.18.
Based on the county the population was spread from 24.80 % under the age of 18, 6.40 % from 18 to 24, 31.90 % from 25 to 44 years, 25.30 % between 45 and 64 years and 11.60% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 95.80 males, 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.70 males.
The median income for a household was $ 77,340, and the median income for a family was $ 89,773. Males have a median income of $ 60,165, women $ 40,065. The per capita income was $ 36,964. 3.90% of the population and 2.40% of families are below the poverty line. 3.70% of those under age 18 and 5.30% were 65 years or older.
