William Kelly (New Zealand politician)

William Kelly ( * 1840 in County Louth, Ireland, † September 19, 1907 ) was an Irish migrant workers in New Zealand, who worked as a businessman, soldier and politician.

Early years

William Kelly was born in 1840 in Ireland and immigrated in 1863 as a young man to New Zealand. In 1864 he was stationed in Auckland supplier for the troops. The following year he went to Opotiki to open a shipping operation between Opotiki and Auckland. In 1868 he was captain of the cavalry corps of the Bay of Plenty and New Zealand fought in the wars.

Between 1871 and 1875, and from 1887 to 1896 he sat as an MP in the New Zealand House of Representatives.
