William Mortimer Clark

Sir William Mortimer Clark, KCMG, KC ( born May 24, 1836 in Aberdeen, Scotland, † 10 August 1915 Prout's Neck, Maine) was a Canadian lawyer. From 1903 to 1908 he was vice- governor of the province of Ontario.

Biography

Clark grew up in the Scottish city of Aberdeen. He graduated from the Marischal College and studied at the University of Edinburgh. In 1859 he emigrated to what was then Upper Canada and received two years later admitted as a lawyer. He sat for numerous charitable organizations, was director of a bank and wrote a larger number of travelogues. In 1887 he was appointed Attorney-General. Later, he taught law at the University of Toronto and at Queen 's University. Governor General Lord Minto sworn Clark in 1903 as Vice- Governor of the Province of Ontario. This representative office he held until 1908.
