William of Maleval

William of Malavalle, it. Guglielmo di Malavalle, French Guillaume de Malavalle (also Maleval ) (* possibly around 1100, † 1157 in the hermitage Malavalle at Castiglione, Grosseto Province, Tuscany, Italy) was a pious, as advisors sought hermit and ascetic. His students Albert and Renald founded after his death, the Congregation of Hermits Wilhelmiten with the monastery Maleval. William of Malavalle was in 1202 by Pope Innocent III. recognized as sacred. His feast day is February 10. He is the patron saint of the Italian community fascia in the province of Genoa.

The figure of the saint is often depicted in Christian art fused glass windows from the 13th century, partly with the Carolingian William of Aquitaine.

An artistically outstanding representation Wilhelms is located at Witzenhausen in Hesse, where there was a branch monastery.
