Winburg ( Afrikaans, German as " city of victory ") is a town in the municipality Masilonyana, Lejweleputswa district, Free State Province in South Africa. 2011 had Winburg - including the townships Makeleketle - 14,074 inhabitants. The city is located about 115 kilometers north of the provincial capital of Bloemfontein and is a regional agricultural center.

History

It was founded on October 16, 1836 by the Voortrekker leader Andries Potgieter H..
