Wincenty Wodzinowski

Wincenty Wodzinowski (* 1866 in Igołomia, † 1940 in Kraków ) was a Polish painter and educator.

Life

Wodzinowski was born in a suburb of Krakow at that time. He learned from 1880 to 1881 in the character class under Wojciech Gerson in Warsaw. From 1881 to 1889 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Władysław Luszczkiewicz and Jan Matejko. In the years 1891 and 1892, he deepened his knowledge at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Alexander Wagner. Subsequently he returned to Krakow. He was in 1893 and 1894 participated in the organizing committee in the design of Raclawice panorama painting by Jan Styka. From 1896 until the First World War, he was advanced painting courses for women at the Krakow Museum of Applied Arts.

In World War Wodzinowski fought in the Polish Legions. He belonged to the Young Poland movement, here he scored with painters such as Frederic Pautsch to the representatives of folk art. Wodzinowski painted landscapes, portraits, realistic and symbolic compositions and genre paintings. In the district of Krakow Azory a street is named after him. Plants are located in Warsaw's National Museum and the Muzeum historii Polskiego Ruchu Ludowego. His son was the artist and stage designer Andrzej Stopka ( 1904-1973 ).
