Władysław Plater

Wladyslaw Plater ( born November 7, 1808 in Vilnius, † April 22, 1889 in Broëlberg in Zurich ) was a Polish- Lithuanian patriot from the Polish-Lithuanian noble family of the Counts Plater, brother of Cezary Plater.

Life

Wladyslaw Plater took part in the November Uprising in Lithuania as Rozicks aide in part, then was Landbote of Wilejka and later founded in Paris in the journal " Le Polonais " ( 1833-1836 ). He caused the address of the British people in favor of Poland, which was presented to Parliament in 1832.

Also, 1863 was Wladyslaw Plater worked for the Polish January Uprising and lived since then, married the famous actress Karoline Bauer, in Rapperswil on Lake Zurich, where he established the Polish National Museum in Rapperswil castle.
