Władysław Ślebodziński

Władysław Ślebodziński ( born February 6, 1884 in Pysznica; † January 3, 1972 in Breslau) was a Polish mathematician of Krakow mathematician school. His scientific interest was mainly in differential geometry and Lie derivative.

Ślebodziński studied mathematics at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and worked from 1919 at the University of Poznan, where he received his doctorate and his habilitation. During World War II, he taught at the underground university, for which he was arrested by the Germans, then imprisoned at Auschwitz concentration camp Gross-Rosen and Mittelbau -Dora. In 1945 he became a professor at the University of Breslau in 1951 at the University of Poznan. From 1949 to 1960 he was a member of the Polska Akademia Nauk.
