History

The village of Hohenstein is mentioned in a deed of 1337, and is probably in the 14th century on the land of the two stumbling Stadtgüter Arnshagen and Stolpmünde been established. It was created in the form of a line village. Previous owners of the lands was Jesco von Schlawe from the house of Swenzonen been from which the magistrate of the town of Stolp had this available for purchase. 1709 Hohenstein was ravaged by the plague.

The farmers of Hohenstein were originally interest leasehold farmers who had leased their farms by the magistrate of the town of Stolp on time. In 1768, there were 17 farmers in Hohenstein. Around 1776, some farmers acquired their farms in perpetual lease. Around 1784, there were eleven full- Hohenstein farmers and purchased this farm, half farmers, four Büdner, a schoolmaster and a total of 19 households. After the abolition of serfdom in 1820, the farms were free property of the peasants. In 1847 the so-called vulgarity division was, ie the allocation of up to this point shared pastures and woodlands, carried out. From the corresponding documents show that smallholdings had been divided since 1784, and although there were now only five full- farmers, but on the other hand 13/2 farmers.

The school building, which was used before 1945, came from the year 1911. The school was one stage in 1932. A teacher was teaching at the time, around 50 school children. Last German teacher in Hohenstein was Wilhelm Pinz ( † ca 1946/47, in Pomerania in prison), who had his teaching perceived exemplary for decades and who was both in the community Hohenstein as well as the stumbling education authority in high regard.

Before 1945, Hohenstein belonged to the district of Stolp in Pomerania Region of Pomerania. The municipal area was 6.5 km ², and Hohenstein was the only place of residence in the community. In 1925 were in Hohenstein 55 residential buildings, and there were 70 households and 361 inhabitants counted. In 1939 there were in the town of Hohenstein 61 farms.

When, towards the end of the Second World War approached, the Red Army, Hohenstein was evacuated in the early hours of March 8, 1945 by order of the stumbling District Office. The trek was heading Arnshagen - Nesekow. Six villagers managed to escape from Stolpmünde from the ship. The other villagers were overtaken by the Soviet troops and had to turn back. On the first day there were several deaths among civilians. On October 6, 1945, Poland took possession of the houses and farmsteads. All the villagers were expelled later.
