Wojciech Smarzowski

Wojciech Smarzowski ( born January 18, 1963 in Korczyna in Krosno ) is a Polish film director.

Life

Smarzowski is a graduate of the Faculty of camera at the Film School in Łódź. He also studied film at Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Early in his career, he directed documentaries, commercials and music videos. Never Byl For his music video for the song To Film the Polish rock band Myslovitz he was the most important Polish Fryderyk music award -winner in 1998.

His first feature film work was created in 1999 for Polish television. 2004 has caused his feature film debut A wedding and other curiosities. A wedding and other curiosities premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival. During the subsequent Polish Film Festival Gdynia Smarzowski received a Special Jury Prize and the Critics' Prize. 2005, the film was awarded several times with the Polish Film Award. Smarzowski received the award for best director and best screenplay. The film also won in the category of Best Film.

In 2009 he released his second feature film Dom zły with similarly great success as his first work. Dom zły was awarded at the Polish Film Festival Gdynia 2009 with the award for Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Editing. At the award ceremony of the Polish Film Awards, the film received the awards for Best Director and Best Cinematography ( Krzysztof Ptak ). In addition, the section were excellent and the film won the Audience Award.

2011 won Smarzowskis feature film Róża (Rose) at the International Film Festival Warsaw both the Warsaw Grand Prix as well as the Audience Award for most popular film.

2004 Wojciech Smarzowski was awarded the Culture Prize Paszport Polityki.
